Soul "Boombastic"

Soul is a Bay area resident whose making some dope hip hop. His current project, a 7-track EP, manages to be both listenable and intelligent. Get a taste of the lead single:

Twista x Busta

Ummm....if anybody's looking for some fast rappin' here it is. This is a lesson in breath control for all you youngsters out there.
"Can You Keep Up?"

Oddisee "Slow It Down"

DC Producer/MC is back with a new project called Self Sacrifice and if the first track is any indication, then he's spent some time keeping his style tight. The beat is slower and more lush than anything I've heard from Oddisee recently. There's a lot of breathing room on here. This is pure decompression.

Benny Loco's Lines EP

This is a tight 6-track EP from a Boulder, CO-based producer named Benny Loco that sticks mostly to electronic beats, but has a few forays further into leftfield as well. I'm digging this track, Sundrenched's remix of "Owned" in particular, but the whole thing is solid. Definitely check out the Four Tet-esque DJAO remix of "Set Pt. 2" if you're digging this one - angelic harps and an off-kilter house beat.

Mo Kolours

Very chill EP from Mo Kolours that touches on some dub, broken beat and sundry other influences. This one is for early summer hard chilling - cocktails and bocce ball - and that sort of thing.

You can cop the download (for free), or pick up one of a limited edition of vinyl pressings here

Vlek Records - Wanda Group

Found this via a tweet from @LaurentFintoni and it's nice -> pre-total-mayhem Autechre, or maybe some bootlegged Illium Sphere - electronic textural syncopation at its finest.

Corduroi "Crustacean"

It's hard to stay on top of everything going on in the world of beats because there's so much good stuff out there. I stumbled across Corduroi a while back thanks to some anonymous blog, but I'm glad I did because his stuff always impresses me. His most recent album is out on Mush, but there's a bunch of EPs floating around too that are worth some attention. Super chill future beats with clean sounds - if you've ever grooved to an Adult Swim bump, then you need to be on this. The bonus of this vid is the combination with vintage beach party visuals (peep the girl on acid licking the surf board early on). I don't think this is an official video, but it doesn't really matter because the awesomeness is undeniable.

Diplo "Express Yourself" ft. Nicky B

I guess this tune is meant to get one's ass shaking. It's a success.

I had the pleasure of catching Diplo/Major Lazer up in Vail a few weeks ago for Snowball. If you haven't seen him do his thing in person, then you should definitely make that a priority. Sweaty mayhem even in sub-freezing temperatures.

A.Dd+ "Can't You See"

Another slick joint from the Texas duo. They just released 9 non-album cuts in the form of a digital comp called Loosies.

Gershon Kingsley "Eleanor Rigby"

Someday, I'd love to curate a compilation of breaks and grooves in covers of Beatles' songs. I found this one the other day while digging for records and it got me thinking of many I've stumbled across over the years. You have to wait a bit for the drum break, but it's worth it.

BBU x GLC x Mishka

Bump this.
