O.I.S.D.

Some more young NYC hip hop. Definite eye to the past with this EP titled Houston & 1st. This cut "Hands High!" sounds like a Smif n Wessun throwback.

MC Elijah Black

Some real smooth vibes from young NYC wordsmith Elijah Black. It's the summer time, got to marinate.

El-P "Full Retard" video

El-P and a grimy squirrel rip it up in the video for the first single off his next record Cancer for Cure. El-producto is killing it this year.

Glucose

This new EP, Telepathic Octopus, from Denver-based producer Glucose is crazy. Some of the most ruckus-inducing, old school IDM/Jungle possible, like Squarepusher put out a record on Jungle Sky before flipping his shit.

Default Champion

Sometimes, when you're driving around the middle of nowhere, you need some hypnotic post-rock goodness to get lost in thought for a few minutes. If you like Tortoise or Godspeed You Black Emperor then you're down with this.

Liknuts

Alkoholiks + Beatnuts = Liknuts. This sounds like a lost bootleg from the late 90s. It's amazing.

Killer Mike "Reagan"

One of my favorite hip hop songs of recent memory. No jive. If you're not on that El-P x Killer Mike R.A.P. Music, you need to be. Politics and hip hop are inextricably intertwined, regardless of what Wayne or Gucci says. Reaganomics is a major part of hip hop's origin. Understand that.

Ski Beatz

Not a household name, except among hip hop heads, Ski Beatz did a bunch of production for Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt. Yeah, it's like that. He's been busy lately. This project, Endless Summer, with Tabi Bonney is slick, and there's an EP with Camp Lo he just did. I'm really feeling the opening tune, "On Jupiter."

Crocodiles "Endless Flowers"

The electro-noise-rockers from San Diego injected some additional pop qualities to the title track off their new album.

Jesse Futerman preview

The Jesse Futerman has a new EP, titled Fuse the Witches, coming soon. Don't sleep on it. His last EP was a killer. Groovy instrumentals in the vein of Shadow, et al. Here's a preview of his upcoming project.

Go back and check out his Super Basement EP too.

Fantastic Four radio show

Sorta classic. JRocc posted this to Soundcloud earlier.

Galactic x Mystikal & Mannie Fresh

Some Louisiana hot sauce right hurr. Funk jammers Galactic mix it up with Mystikal and Mannie Fresh. Too bad Mystikal is back in jail, because nobody comes close to his delivery.

Time "5th Horseman"

Digging this on the smooth and introspective tip. Time is from Denver. Beat by Tall City.

DJ Day

Tasty remix mashing Main Source's "Live at the BBQ" vocals with the drums from NWA's "Fuck tha Police." Check out "BBQ the Police"

Antibalas

Antibalas has a new album coming out in August. Get excited.

Tabi Bonney x Yasiin Bey

This here is some low key summertime heat from Tabi Bonney and Yasiin Bey (bka Mos Def). Ski Beatz provides the steel drum heavy track. Enjoy.

Bonde Do Role

New video from Bonde Do Role is crazy. Pineapples that shoot hotdogs and pizza. Plenty of '50s tropical guitar. Diplo stays killing it.

Birds and Batteries

I first saw Birds and Batteries a couple years ago at the Art Bar in Columbia, SC while they were touring with Great American/Low Red Land (RIP). They've made some lineup changes over the years, but the end results are steadily improving. This new tune is sort of Gary Numan on nitrous oxide...

TNGHT "Buggn"

Hudson Mohawke and Lunice join forces as TNGHT. Why aren't vowels cool anymore? Doesn't matter because this track is a beast - like ghetto tech with a sense of humor.

Oddisee x Marvin Gaye

Oddisee remixes Marvin Gaye. Niiice. This will be part of a free EP out next week called Odd Renditions, which is an advance promo for his new full length People Hear What They See dropping in June.

"Ramsesses"

Mello Music Group stays killing it. Gensu Dean x Homeboy Sandman & 7evenThirty. This beat is crazy (my guess is that sample originates with an Italian film score), and everyone rips it up.

DJ Classy Individual "Deep Thoughts Vol. 2"

I just finished up this hard chilling mix of futuristic beats + a few old favorites. It starts out with some space and a mellowed out jazz vibe, then kicks up into some space fonk. Grab a copy here.

Force Publique

Stumbled across Force Publique after Alex from ManCub mentioned working with James Wayne (1/2 of FP) in an interview. This is from a 2010 demo and it lands in the confluence of Joy Division and Adult. Electro-post-punk with an appropriately grimy texture. I'm loving the first track, "Ache."

20 Years Since the LA Riots

It's been 20 years since the LA riots. Vintage Everyday has a handful of amazing photos, like this one:

P.Villa "Different Waters"

New visuals for a tune from ATL/SAV beat maestro P.Villa. The majority of the video is done with animated oil paint. It works with the synth-y low-key vibe. This is in the chill room all day.
