DJ Classy Individual "Deep Thoughts"

A nice survey of the stylistic diversity that used to be known as beats, but what might now be called some sort of post-Dilla, wonky, choppy, futuristic blend of hip hop and electronic music. It starts bass heavy, and then wanders into some spacey material before finishing strong. Definitely stay tuned in for the last couple tracks.

Shlohmo's Fader Mix

This young fella is killing the crazy, semi-ambient, futuristic west coast beat world right now. His new LP Bad Vibes is choice, and here he is doing his thing with a tasty 40+ minute mix that opens with Suicide (yes!) and dances around some EDM, slugs a sizzurpy dose of Southern rap and then passes out on Tom Waits.

Shlohmo "Birthday Beat"

This 20 year-old beatsmith hailing from L.A. is on his way to big things. This is a new track off his upcoming "Camping" EP that will be out on Friends of Friends in mid-June. It's got that stuttering west coast beat vibe, but keeps it pastoral. Can't wait to check out the rest of the EP.

Shlohmo "7AM"

I'm really enjoying what I've been hearing from this youngster named Shlohmo. I've now heard a pretty hard dubstep type track, something a little airier, and then this little ditty "7AM" which is Detroit-y, Post-Dilla instrumental hip hop with a crisp, bright synth line over the top. It sets the mood for having stayed up all night and then watching the sun rise while still a little twisted from the night before.

His album Shlohmoshun Deluxe came out last week, so pick that up if you're enjoying this.
