This stays stuck in my head. It's a Mulholland Drive-inspired flip over top of the most mellow-vibes anti-banger you've ever heard. Man Mantis didn't just do the beat. He also did all the animation by hand with a box of markers and a lot of time.

"Prickly"
Hadn't heard of Oren L. until pretty recently when he popped up on a bill for a Red Bull Selects night curated by DJ Low Key and headlined by Exile. This new video of his is pretty dope. S/O to HHRC.
"Guilford Ave Bridge"
Dan Deacon is doing a North American tour with Animal Collective this spring. It's going to be a truly mind blowing experience. I've already got tickets to see them at the Ogden. Psyched.

Joey Bada$$
This kid is killing it. New video off the old mixtape, 1999. If you're a hip hop head around the age of 30, this will have you tearing up about middle school.

[Video] Baby Baby - "Haters"
Baby Baby are one of the best young rock bands in the Southeast. They put on a killer live show, often without wearing pants. Straight out of Carrolton.
Their new video includes sad clowns, grown folks shoving children, no-pants dance parties on a train, bicycle gangs and highway jam sessions. F*ck yes, gentlemen.

[Video] Blu "Jesus"
Blu kills this groovy Madlib beat that's a straight classic. The LP is out on Nature Sounds. Grab it.
"Thuggin"
Without a doubt one of the best hip hop songs of last year. I catch a new line from Gibbs every time I listen. Now there's a video, and it's equally hot. No frills, just trill.
Video: ESKMO "Color Dropping"
Here's a real cool video for ESKMO's "Color Dropping," a track off his debut LP that manages to be both glitchy and stompy. The design and texture of his sound is incredible and the video does a nice job of emphasizing that with the visuals.
ESKMO just got back from a European tour that landed him in Greece at the same time the austerity measures were being passed and rioting was starting. Catch his first hand account of the experience here.

Flux Pavillion x Doctor P
Whoah. This track and this video are both badass. Superbadass. The synth work is monstrous.

Major Lazer "Original Don"
Major Lazer just tweeted the debut of their new video and it is ridiculous. Whoever thought of this is either a sociopathic auteur strung out on some magical drug that the rest of us jerks don't even know about yet, or a genius. Judging by the fact that after 301 views, there were 51 dislikes (15%), I guess not everyone agrees, but the Parisians rioted after the debut of Stravinksy's "Rite of Spring," so that's the risk you run for making "art." Prepare for suburb-sploitation chock full of samurai weapons and an amusing Diplo cameo. Oh yeah, and the track is dope too.

Ludacris "Bada Boom"
I don't put much stock in rap beef since it became a marketing ploy for a lot of folks, but what is undeniable is that the smackdown is a crucial part of hip hop, and this new Ludacris video is a monster open handed slap to the tender cheeks of Drake and Big Sean. I don't know how this started, but Luda clearly finishes it. Opening with a flip of The Fifth Element and then unleashing a proper verbal fury. "Nothing been new since Big Daddy Kane."

Stalley
Can't front on the fact that I completely slept on Stalley, but this is too good not to post. The video is fresh from the last day or two, but the mixtape it originates from has been floating around since February. This guy just signed to Maybach, and it seems kind of crazy that he'd join the ranks of Rick Ross...I don't know dude's whole catalog though...like I said, I just got on this today...maybe he's got a few "Pac Man" type joints in his rhyme book. I hope not though.

Reptar "Blastoff"
Reptar stopped in Savannah during the spring for the Stopover festival and they were one of several bands that I missed because the schedule was so packed that some tough choices had to be made. I don't regret the decision, but if I had a time machine...
This new video for Blastoff is crazy. The tune has the sort of energy you might remember from Labyrinth era David Bowie. If you've enjoyed Yeasayer, Fool's Gold or any of the other groups floating that synth-pop-meets-afrobeat-dance-freakout sound, you'll wanna get with this Athens, GA based group.

If you don't hear them now, you'll likely hear about them later because folks like NME and Paste are raving about them.

Gyspy Treasures "Four Horsemen"
Do you need some heavy, heavy, deep psych? The kind of stuff that just locks you into a dark tunnel of writhing introspection...here it is from an LA-SF outfit called Gypsy Treasures. They've got a new EP called Buried Goods.

Turns out the west coast beat-maestro's dad is Michael Patterson, the same guy who made that classic A-ha video. Pops came through with the assist for Groundislava
