Taste II recap

A great video recapping the second Taste art event out at Meddin, which took place last month. 12 hours of art, music, performance, beer and mayhem.

TASTE II from FanFlare Media on Vimeo.

Big shout out to Raabstract for spearheading the organizational efforts. Also many thanks to all the artists - KidSyc, DJ D-Frost, Hebermehl, Basik Lee, AFW, Cusses, Jose Ray, Dr. Z, Rrrrumps (who destroyed shit late night), Cousin Dan, Word of Mouth and many more. Also a personal thanks to P.Villa for the 40s on the back porch.

Taste II

The first Taste event took place two years ago at the former Meddin Slaughterhouse, which was artist studios at the time. It was live art, fashion show, tons of music, DJs, exhibits, food, beer and more...basically everything you could want wrapped up in one event. Now, the old Meddin building has taken on a new form, now as a state-of-the-art digital production facility, but they've opened their doors to the event this year. Expect 11 hours of awesomeness all sourced from Savannah, GA.

Taste and DTM

Two excellent art events coming up in Savannah in April.

Taste was the last great hurrah before the old Meddin meat packing facility was converted from studios into a state of the art digital production facility. There were artists, bands, live painting, suspension acts, a fashion show and beer - what else could you want? Taste is returning April 30 thanks to Raabstract, and if you want to get in on the art stop by here for more info.
According to Raab:
TASTE is open to all genres, styles and mediums. We welcome live acts, 2d/ 3d, installations, freak shows, interactive exhibits, DJ's, musicians, live painters etc.
The deadline for artist submissions is April 1.

Down the road at Studio 2-Ten will be a show called Destroy the Masterpiece - a gallery exhibit of graffiti and street art type stuff that will open at the same time, meaning you can wander from Desoto Ave to 2-Ten (less than 2 blocks away) and check them both out.

Video from Taste (4-4-09)

Just got the video from the Taste event that happened out at the M.E.A.T. building in April. All the propers to Raabstract, Josh Branstetter, Dope Sandwich and Insomniac Sound for putting together one of the nicest events I've been to in Savannah in a long time. Lots of great art, great music, a little fashion show, and then a dude from Planet 3 suspended in the air by hooks in his back swinging above the crowd. And all washed down with lots of beer. Bravo. There needs to be more freaky multi-media stuff happening here, and I'm glad someone is stepping up to the plate.

The Taste folks are currently hard at work on the Pyro Independent Music Festival, which will be less art show than Taste, but more live music on two stages on the fourth of July on Tybee Island. Bring your sunscreen. It runs from 3pm-2am and it's all only $7/person or $20/car (you know you can cram some heads into a car to get in for super cheap if need be).

This Saturday - Get Some Local Flavor

Don't forget this Saturday (4/4) at the M.E.A.T. space on Louisville Road, The Taste Art Event is going down in a very major way - 30 regional artists exhibiting work across numerous mediums, live music from Dope Sandwich and MK2 among others...refreshments...what else could you want?

It runs from 3PM - 3AM, and if you get there before 7PM it's free (afterwards it's $10).

Get some culture...Have a good time.

Taste Art - 4/4/09 @ the M.E.A.T. Gallery

This should be one of the better art-related events Savannah has seen in a minute. 40+ artists, live music, DJs, breakdancers and refreshments all in the M.E.A.T. gallery/space on Louisville Rd. It's a 12-hour affair, from 3PM-3AM, on Saturday April 4th and if you get there before 7PM, there's no cover.

Get more info here.
