"Give a Eff"
Chi producer/MC connected to Stones Throw in 2013. Kicking it on that surrrious neo-90s stee that's all the rage with a bunch of super-dope up'n'comers (see Joey Bada$$, Underachievers, et al.)
Check out a mixtape of his via Stones Throw.

Bruce Haack Remixes
Propers to everyone at Stones Throw for these remixes. Bruce Haack is legendary. He pioneered psychedelic lo-fi electronic music, including a bunch of really far-out children's records. Electric Lucifer is pretty brilliant, if you don't already know. So they get together and drop a bunch of re-donculous remixes. Check out the party mix:

Madlib x Freddie Gibbs pt. 2
After blowing hip hop's collective mind with "Thuggin'" last year, Madlib and Freddie Gibbs are collabing again, this time for the Shame EP. Of course it's not a disappointment, Gibbs might be the toughest MC out right now. Or at least neck and neck with KRIT.

Random Goodness #5
Another round-up of completely unrelated things that leaped from the depths of the aether into my consciousness:
- The Arts Desk has an awesome interview with Gonjasufi wherein he discusses his transition from hip hop into whatever psychedelic-electronic-mayhem he unleashes on the world now. Definitely worth checking out if you've enjoyed any of his recent records.
- Downtempo beat maestro Bonobo just did a mix for Ninja Tune's Solid Steel radio. It makes a pleasant musical backdrop for a variety of activities.
- Stones Throw announced they're releasing a 2nd installment in the Minimal Wave Tape series. If you like to get down with post-punk/new wave electronic music from the late 70s and early 80s, then you definitely don't want to miss that.

Jonti "Sine & Moon"
For a limited time only, Stones Throw is celebrating the new year by offering up Jonti's new album as a free download. I haven't checked out these new tracks yet, but Twirligig was pretty awesome, so I don't think you need to worry.

Video: M.E.D. "Blaxican"
M.E.D. skates across this Madlib production. The intro is about 30 seconds long, but your patience is rewarded with an anthem about the intermingled minority culture of Los Angeles. A great example of how the visual can add to the content and style of a song (rather than compete with it). M.E.D.'s new album Classic is definitely worth a listen.

MED x Kweli = Classic

Wow. This track is stupid fresh. Go ahead and put this on a mixtape right after that Trek Life & J.Bizness track I just posted. You'll be groovin' proper in this heat.
"Classic"
MED - Classic feat. Talib Kweli by stonesthrow
The Stones Throwers say this might be on MED's new album. If it's not, then he better have 15 other tracks that are even hotter, because this joint is certified. Get more info here. Download a copy of the song here.
Seu Jorge + Almaz
If you've seen City of God (Knock-Out Ned) or Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic (The Brazillian dude playing all those Bowie covers), then you know Seu Jorge and how awesome he is. And, subsequently, you might be excited by the news that he's putting out a record on Stones Throw. I know. It's a real "somebody put peanut butter in my chocolate" type moment.
Check out the leak, which is him covering the Roy Ayers' classic "Everybody Loves the Sunshine"

The Equatics
This is something to forward to from Stones Throw's funky subsidiary Now-Again. Get a little taste right here with some super cold funky island spin on "Ain't No Sunshine." Yeah, it's that real. And check this, these youngsters were only in high school when they cut this record.

Minimal Wave Tapes
Stones Throw is wandering off it's usual offerings of hip hip, soul and space funk to release some lost electro treasures from the late 70s and early 80s. The Minimal Wave Tapes.
Here's a taste. Crash Course in Science - The Flying Turns (circa '81)
If you like this, then you should also go check out B.I.P.P.P. - a compilation of rare, French 7"s from '77-'85 that blew my mind two years ago.
If you like those, and you want something similar, but with a little more no-wave+Minute Men with hints of Kraut Rock type vibe, swing by Anthology Recordings, and take a listen to TuxedoMoon's Half Mute/ Scream with a View - particularly "59 to 1", which is super catchy, and would make a pretty nice element in the early part a particular kind of DJ set.

Nite Jewel "Weak For Me"

So I guess the story goes that Dam-Funk found a couple copies of an out of print LP from Nite Jewel, it's amazing, and now Peanut Butter Wolf is rereleasing a 45 with "Weak For Me" b/w "Suburbia". It is semi-spastic 80s spacey lounge funk at its finest. Think Gary Newman singing falsetto.

And get more of the story on the record, and hear a streaming version of the b-side.
