Safe and Sound x Aux Arc

Gus over at Safe and Sound just sent me this cool video he did with SAV/ATL trio Aux Arc. It's shot live in a studio with the guys and some lights - pretty minimal, but very effective. Videographer/Lighting Magician Matt T. Perry sets the scene with his homemade lighting board of tricks. He also ran lights for them and Sunglasses during sets at Stopover. The tune itself is a jangly, garage-pop gem called "Sixteen."

The Darlings - Yeah I Know

The Darlings are from New York. The quartet just jumped out of a time machine, carrying nothing but their instruments and a timeless formula for fun rock and roll. Their songs are short, upbeat romps through innocent fields ripe with parties, girls and beer. Everything sounds just a little fuzzy, and if you close your eyes you can take yourself back to a kick ass house party or garage concert and imagine that these guys are playing and everyone is having an awesome time.

They are reminiscent of a lot of bands, a mash up of 60s fuzz-rock, some lost indie rockers circa 1986, and a hint of newer groups like the Strokes and their ilk.
This song "Eviction Party" is one of my favorites, and fairly representative of the album as a whole. This is not one of those projects where you need to skip songs. You can put it in and let it ride. Definitely a crucial piece of fodder for roadtrip mixes.

Phays - The Excellent Adventure Vol. 1

A nice blend of breaks, jazz, garage, psych and a dash of reggae I just finished. No fancy DJ work, just a taste of some nicely selected music. There's 60+ cuts broken up into 4 tracks. I'd rather not take the time and space to post the contents here, but feel free to email me if you want the full tracklist.

This is the advance release prior to a new EP of original stuff in the works called Listening Habit that should be done in late spring.
