Kjunya "Puttin My Life on These Beats"

I love this track, and not just because I did the beat. Welcome to the South. Download a copy here.

The Dirty Covers compilation

Jeremiah Stuard (of Savannah-based band HOWLER and t-shirt designer/printers WABCO) has assembled an impressive compilation of really eclectic cover songs by a really eclectic set of Savannah acts like Dare Dukes (folky-alt-rock), Magic Places + Britt Scott (electronic), Cusses (Dance-Punk), Black Tusk (swamp metal) and many many more (including a re-edit of mine).
The album release will be at the Jinx on July 27, in conjunction with Rock N Roll Bingo. It's gonna be awesome.

ilmli "Coming Clean" (phays remix)

Just finished this remix of ilmli's tune "Coming Clean" - the original is much housier and a lot cleaner...I resampled most of the individual sounds and broke them down into smaller pieces, and rebuilt the drums with a little more syncopation. This is part of my ongoing series of remixes of Savannah musicians. Hear previous endeavors here and here.

Vi11ain "Midnight Dub" (phays rmx)

Just finished up this remix for Vi11ain, a 912 transplant who used to lean toward industrial, but has lately been pushing more toward dubstep and the like. Pretty happy with how this turned out, especially the breakdown ahout 1:20 into it.

Magic Places '2071' EP

Head over to Unholy Rhythms and check out new EP from Savannah GA's Magic Places. He's got a real knack for capturing a lot of classic electronic references in an interesting way - pulsing and textural bleeps and chops tastefully arranged in a pleasing concoction. There's also a remix of mine included on 2071, an uptempo dicing of his tune "Digital Lightspeed," which I'm pretty psyched about.

Soul Shinin'

Just finished the prelim mix on this track from Basik Lee - Soul Shinin' featuring An Toine. I did the beat using some chops of a Swingle Singers tune...

Basik Lee "Can't You See It"

A collaboration between Basik Lee of Dope Sandwich and myself. The beat is actually a couple years old, and I thought it had been lost after a hard drive crash in early 2008. Thankfully, a copy survived. Just finished some pre-lim mixing on it tonight.

Digital Lightspeed (Phays Remix)

A remix I just finished of "Digital Lightspeed" by Magic Places. It might appear on an upcoming EP of his. Check out the original track, and some other Magic Places tracks here.

Claude Denjean - Phays RE-Edit

You might know the Steam song "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" if you've ever gone to a sporting event...

I recently discovered Claude Denjean's moog version while digging in an antique store in Charlotte a couple weeks ago, and I just finished this little re-edit. Enjoy.

Blumenkraft "Skinny Bitch" (Phays Remix)

Here's a remix I just finished in hopes that it will earn a spot on an upcoming release from Irish electro-house producer Blumenkraft. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Pink Kodiak, Hello, Goodbye and Farewell SAV show

Just finished re-recording a new version of "Let's Get Sentimental" with Pink Kodiak. It's nice. We should have been collaborating for awhile, and it's unfortunate because the creator of Death Pop is leaving Savannah in 2 weeks to return to the corn-rich lands of Iowa — people of Des Moines, you should celebrate accordingly.

Phays & Pink Kodiak - "Let's Get Sentimental"

Keep a copy for yourself.

Next Saturday, July 25th, he'll be playing a farewell show at the Jinx along with literary alt-rocker Dare Dukes, and the newest Keith Kozel-led project The Champions. It will be a bittersweet evening of indie rock goodbyes, and most definitely an awesome show.

Phays - The Excellent Adventure Vol. 1

A nice blend of breaks, jazz, garage, psych and a dash of reggae I just finished. No fancy DJ work, just a taste of some nicely selected music. There's 60+ cuts broken up into 4 tracks. I'd rather not take the time and space to post the contents here, but feel free to email me if you want the full tracklist.

This is the advance release prior to a new EP of original stuff in the works called Listening Habit that should be done in late spring.

Download.
