Bosco's Pacer EP

Brittany Bosco has been doing her thing up in Atlanta for the past few years. She left Savannah firmly planted in the emerging electro-soul-jazz sound, but has since gone on a stylistic sojourn, messing with rock n roll, soul, and left-field tendencies, plus plenty of visual art and fashion dalliances. The Pacer EP has been in the works for a while now, and here's the first taste. I wish the vocals were pushed further forward, because Bosco can sign like nobody's business, but I see how the effect adds to the whole melting, psychedelic distortion cave with penguins kind of vibe.

New Track from Bosco

Savannah-native Brittany Bosco just dropped a new track off her forthcoming project and, in the words of Monty Python - now for something completely different. If you knew her when she was doing her futuristic electro-soul-jazz thing last year, forget it. This new track is on some straight up thrashy, dirty blues. This is some Jon Spencer Blues Explosion fronted by a down south girl with crazy grit. I'm curious to hear more of the record. Saw Ms. Bosco and the crew in Atlanta in December and, I may have mentioned this before, was blown away by a 16 minute version of "Summertime" that was ridiculously psychedelic. This is a nice joint for a chilly day spent outside waiting for the bus, which is most of how I spent today. Two amazing Savannahians - Brittany Bosco and KidSyc. From Bosco's Spectrum 2.0.



I had the pleasure of seeing Brittany perform in December at show in ATL. She's leaving behind the chopped up jazz/soul for a harsher, more psychedelic blues - like Janis Joplin-esque, but with a little more edge. Crazy brilliant.  They did a 16 minute version of "Summertime" that pretty much shattered every expectation you could have for that timeless tune.

Meanwhile, KidSyc is hard at work on a new project The K.I.D. which should be readily available soon. Here are two new tracks of his, produced by Alex Goose, whose Blueprint 3 Outtakes is a monster. Big Up to the Big Up.

Brittany Bosco's Video Debut

Brittany Bosco has released her video debut, combining two tracks off her Spectrum EP that is getting re-released pretty soon.

The video is crazy. Where most artists would have dropped some big flashy track first, Brittany drops an elegant throwback video for solid jazz tracks that really highlight her amazing vocal capabilities.

If you missed her three very different sets during the week of the Savannah Urban Arts Festival, you really missed something special.

SUAF Announces Lineup for Benefit Concert May 9th

The Savannah Urban Arts Festival has announced the lineup for it's big benefit concert that will be the culmination of 6 days of events. 8PM, May 9th @ the Morris Center, SUAF will present two Savannah natives who have gone out and done big things with music - Grammy winner Anthony David, and electro-soul diva Brittany Bosco (they both went to the same high school too, although at different times).

The fact that the show consists of two locals who had to leave the city to make career moves just demonstrates how much the city itself needs to improve its creative infrastructure. Second-tier cities across the country suffer from a massive talent-drain where every artist with a chance to do big things has to move to ATL, NYC, LA or wherever else talented folks go, and it means that their hometowns suffer by an ongoing inability to support their own artists.

J.Davey and Brittany Bosco Live in ATL 3/14

If you're in Atlanta this weekend, you'll definitely want to check out this show.



J.Davey has got a lot of that buzz right now, and Brittany has been killing it at shows all over the country lately. They are both building on some electro-soul/jazz vibe that I'm definitely feeling lately.

Here is a track off of Brittany's recent Spectrum EP that dropped last Fall, and got all sorts of attention for both the amazing music, and it's package design, which was gold bubble wrap (Google it to find some pics).
