Just got tickets to see Outkast in Denver this summer as part of the lineup for Mad Decent's block party. Dope. This Mick Brooklyn mix is a nice retrospective of rarities, gems and features.

P.Villa "Different Waters"

New visuals for a tune from ATL/SAV beat maestro P.Villa. The majority of the video is done with animated oil paint. It works with the synth-y low-key vibe. This is in the chill room all day. 

Unda "Tomorrow Never Comes"

Props to Unda doing his thing on this new EP called Tomorrow Never Comes. Bangkok to ATL, he handles all the production and spits on a couple tracks too. Definitely feeling the opening tune "Dear Aquarius," but there's jewels scattered all the way from front to back. The material is considerably darker than some of his past work, a symptom of some things he was going through last year. Give it a listen:

Supermarket Knife Attack

ATL production team SMKA returns with a nice recap of their recent work, which includes appearances by Freddie Gibbs, Fashawn, Young Scolla and a bunch more. If you like your beats Suthren, these dudes deliver. Their first mixtape series The 808 Experiment was choice too - put me onto Yelawolf way ahead of the curve with "Deer Mama" off volume 2. Also, Volume 1's "Bang" is one of the best, most slept-on strip club anthems of all time.

Video: Speak Easy "Crane Kick Flow"

ATL visual artist/MC Sean Fahie aka Speak Easy just wrapped up this video for the single off his recent LP Coronas, Condoms and Cigarettes: A Musical Guide to Awesome Living. The man raps about what he knows. We co-curated an art show called Fresh Produce at the Indigo Sky Community Gallery as part of the 2011 Savannah Urban Arts Festival. The crazy part is he makes art as good as he flows. For a general overview of his style, check the intro to the video, it could double as his Tao. Shout out to Danny! on the beat - keeping it super smooth.

Watch the Couch

I can't remember whether I posted something about this at the time, but if I didn't shame on me, and if I did, then you know it's worthy of some more love. This "Watch the Couch" project dropped the same week as the slightly better known Watch the Throne, thanks to Superbuddah, a collaboration between ATL underground heads Ethereal and Spacebar. The second cut off the EP is a favorite of mine recently - it's got this ATCQ vibe translated into a post-Madlib hip hop aesthetic. This is a smooth classic. Don't sleep. The whole thing is solid from front to back.

Speak Easy "Coronas, Condoms and Cigarettes"

Speak Easy aka Sean Fahie drops his second free album this week. The ATL-based MC and visual artist also had a show with the same name "Coronas, Condoms and Cigarettes." It's sort of a guide to gully living. Noteworthy production from Danny! and Unda, among others. You definitely need to be down with this.

Bosco's Pacer EP

Brittany Bosco has been doing her thing up in Atlanta for the past few years. She left Savannah firmly planted in the emerging electro-soul-jazz sound, but has since gone on a stylistic sojourn, messing with rock n roll, soul, and left-field tendencies, plus plenty of visual art and fashion dalliances. The Pacer EP has been in the works for a while now, and here's the first taste. I wish the vocals were pushed further forward, because Bosco can sign like nobody's business, but I see how the effect adds to the whole melting, psychedelic distortion cave with penguins kind of vibe.

A3C's RV Mixtape

Parked in the front of the Masquerade during this year's A3C festival was a large RV - not a strange sight at a festival if you're seeing some jam bands, but at a hip hop festival, it sort of stuck out - what also drew attention to the vehicle was the steady stream of artists coming and going from it. It was a mobile studio, among other things, and this mixtape is some of the results.

A3C Mixtape

If you like hip hop and you live in the Southeast, there's a good chance you're considering a trip to Atlanta next week for A3C. These guys put in work and its paid off. I remember a few years ago seeing fliers and stuff for this, and while there were some hot underground heads, it didn't have nearly the clout it's got now. Still plenty of underground heads, but on a way bigger scale. 200+ artists from Oct. 6-8. A handful are on the first installment of the A3C Mixtape presented by production/management team SMKA.
