Cusses "Worst Enemy"
Big shouts out to the Savannah folks behind this gem. Bob Jones on the camera and editing + Angel and the two Brians (Cusses) for kicking out the jams. Rawwwk. Cusses debut album will be out later this year and it's going to be off the chain.

"Money in the Sky"
I can't get enough of these guys... This was recorded over the course of a day in Norway...and it's better than what most folks are doing in a month of sessions...The beat shuffles along beneath thick stand-up bass plucks and a somber piano line. Then the hook drops like a lost Goodie Mob B-side...G-Side is killing it.
Das Racist "Amazing"
I guess they filmed this while they were down in Savannah last spring. The majority of the exterior shots are Colonial Park cemetery, downtown, across from the fire station on Oglethorpe. Just so you know, in case you're here and super wasted, don't rub the spanish moss on your head. It's full of bugs called chiggers, if you're fortunate to get a bug-free clump, it's only because the city periodically sprays horrible chemicals all over it. Back to the subject at hand though, I think this song is catchy.

Timbo King "High Ranking" ft. R.A. the Rugged Man
This video is dope. Goes to show you how a concept and a sense of humor trump a budget any day. The beat is dope. The verses are funny. The whole thing just works. Hip hop is all about being the best. This here is how the competition is supposed to play out - who's got the dopest lines.

AM & Shawn Lee
It's like gritty Postal Service. There's the ethereal, fragile male lead punctuating an analog low end and a steady beat. I dig it. This is playing at a moderate volume in lounges at 11 p.m. and then again at wind-down after-parties whose attendees are still capable of conversation.
This duo is opening for Thievery Corporation on the west coast in September, and then "co-headlining" with Fool's Gold on the east coast.

Irresponsible Rap Song
I feel bad I'm a few days late in posting this because a bunch of people beat me to showing this vid some love despite the fact that Knife is my homeboy. This is now one of my favorite hip hop videos of the 21st century - and I'd say that even if I didn't know the man.

Tayler McFerrin "A Place in my Heart"
Taylor McFerrin is a new addition to FlyLo's Brainfeeder imprint. Here's a collab with vocalist Ryat that is pretty intense. Any relation to Bobby? [silence] Bet he never hears that. If you yearn for a brighter but equally emotive Portishead, or can interpolate the existence of a song made by Bjork and Lovage-era Dan the Automator - this might be for you...

Video: Yeasayer "I Remember"
In honor of Valentine's day, Yeasayer sent out an email with a new video and some remixes. It's better than flowers, and on par with chocolates (except it won't go straight to your hips). Just kidding. It will go straight to your hips. A bizarre homage to cleaning a motorcycle, which is not a euphemism for masturbation, ensues...

Dirty Beaches "Lord Knows Best"
Super mellow. All sorts of heroin-chic. Shout out to Carrie Nations, who knew that this was a Francois Hardy sample.
