Not a household name, except among hip hop heads, Ski Beatz did a bunch of production for Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt. Yeah, it's like that. He's been busy lately. This project, Endless Summer, with Tabi Bonney is slick, and there's an EP with Camp Lo he just did. I'm really feeling the opening tune, "On Jupiter."
I can't remember whether I posted something about this at the time, but if I didn't shame on me, and if I did, then you know it's worthy of some more love. This "Watch the Couch" project dropped the same week as the slightly better known Watch the Throne, thanks to Superbuddah, a collaboration between ATL underground heads Ethereal and Spacebar. The second cut off the EP is a favorite of mine recently - it's got this ATCQ vibe translated into a post-Madlib hip hop aesthetic. This is a smooth classic. Don't sleep. The whole thing is solid from front to back.
This Canadian producer keeps it smooth and funky. His EP got a significant endorsement from BBC 1's Gilles Peterson. Great organic feel to Futerman's Super Basement EP.
If you want to get your retro-lo-fi pop groove on at some point...or you're a fiend for smooth french girl music sung in English...or you know who France Gall is...then you'll be into this track from Soda Pop.
Maf and Smooth collab as S.A.M. and this track "Swag Shop" is just about the most Cadillac-ready piece of slickness I've heard in a while...Go ahead and drive slow to this. Creases so sharp you'll cut yourself. S.A.M. - Swag Shop ft/ Lonnie Coppock by Maf aka Carlitobaby
Just take a deep breath and marinate on this hazy groove, a lost and found track from Flying Lotus that he dropped seemingly at random, unrelated to any sort of album or whatever. Thanks for sharing.
I found this thanks to Fader.
