THURZ - Kings Keep Marching by #92CREW
Here's where it came from.
Thurz "Kings Keep Marching"
Don't Give Up
This song has been floating around the AWOL office for a couple years, and it's always been a favorite. Now, QD of the Chatham County Bosses has finally got a proper video for it. This thing is all inspiration.

Great Scott
Groove on this ladiback joint from ATL MC Great SCOTT. In case you don't know him, don't get his geography confused with any indicator of his style. He's on some true school Golden Era vibe all day and all night.

Time Wharp
Found out about this ATL based bedroom electronicist (yeah, I just made that word up) named Time Wharp via Creative Loafing's music issue, which, if you missed it was pretty jam packed with awesomeness. A great feature on the city's thriving dubstep scene, a shout out to ill female emcees like StaHHr and nod to my home girl Brittany Bosco.
Check out more from him here.

Venetian Snares x Sesame Street
Take some old cartoons and re-edit them to the electronic mayhem of the Venetian Snares? Yes please. This is by no means an official video, just something someone did and posted the internet. If you're into this whole dubstep/future beat/wonk/almost-techie-d&B movement and you don't know about the Venetian Snares, you need to go back and listen to the stuff they were doing earlier this millenium.

"Nasty"
Here's the new Nas leak, aptly titled "Nasty" because he's back on some "Live from the BBQ" flow. Propers due to Salaam Remi on the beat.

Gyspy Treasures "Four Horsemen"
Do you need some heavy, heavy, deep psych? The kind of stuff that just locks you into a dark tunnel of writhing introspection...here it is from an LA-SF outfit called Gypsy Treasures. They've got a new EP called Buried Goods.

Monolithium
From the depths of Western Canada comes this bass-y gem. The EP, called Simon and G-Funk is out on Error Broadcast. The tune "Selfish lil Crunk" starts out all dis-jointed but comes together nicely. The bleeps, creeps and sweeps are cleanly constructed and doing the bare minimum never crossed this man's mind.

Need some crazy dance music from Mexico to get your beach days in gear? Here it is. Raw and uncut. Just don't play it too loud in state's with overly harsh immigration laws - you might get detained and deported.

G-Side
The other day I was thinking about how K.R.I.T. was probably my favorite rapper in the South at the moment. Then, G-Side's "Came Up" arrived, and while this Huntsville, AL duo haven't taken the top spot, they are definitely worth adding to the list of folks who are doing really good music. This beat is unexpected to say the least - classical violin spreading its wings over a beat that doesn't need burning hi-hats or an 808 sub - not the traditional Southern take at all. The second verse sort of reminds me of the way Apani flowed on Doom/Vik Vaughn's Vaudeville Villain
Savannah, GA
This is a shot of the old car wash on the corner of 37th and Price. My first apartment in Savannah was just down the street from here, back when it was still going strong. A structure fire finished off the business a couple years ago, but it still sits there. This picture was snapped by Savannah's favorite rock n roll folk artist painter Panhandle Slim aka Scott Stanton.

Raphael Saadiq "Good Man"
On the off chance you're sleeping on this Raphael Saadiq album Stone Rollin' - you need to check this track out and realize the error of your ways. (This isn't the official video because Universal runs ads before it's video and I'm not getting paid by them, so I won't encourage you to pay their bills - other than by supporting good music)

Dynasty "Epic"
This track is insane. Preemo brings a beat like the good old days (even though he never really stopped making hot beats) and this lady rips the mic like it's nothing. Lines that'll make you rewind. Bananas.

ilmli "Coming Clean" (phays remix)
Just finished this remix of ilmli's tune "Coming Clean" - the original is much housier and a lot cleaner...I resampled most of the individual sounds and broke them down into smaller pieces, and rebuilt the drums with a little more syncopation. This is part of my ongoing series of remixes of Savannah musicians. Hear previous endeavors here and here.

Milagres "Glowing Mouth"
The guys from Milagres were in Savannah in March for Stopover, and they were super nice guys. They're album on Kill Rock Stars just got its release date pushed back to September (too bad), so this tune "Glowing Mouth" (right click to save as) will have to tide you over until then. Lush arrangements. A really tasteful organ lick smooths out some electronic drums and richly layered vocal mix. If you like Gorillaz, you'll be on this something serious.
